Mr Steve Grainger and his partner spent a whole week working with a group of 13 students aged 13 - 17 in January this year. The tuition was excellent, with workshops focusing on specific skills. An excellent variety of teaching methods was employed. A good awareness of the need to maintain interest levels was shown: activities were broken into manageable chunks which helped to maintain concentration. Excellent working relationships developed between tutors and learners. Students really enjoyed all aspects of Circus Skills Week, especially the show. This confirmed that the experience was valuable not only for developing physical, co-ordination skills but also inter-personal and communication skills. Changes in the students' body language were also noted during the week. To sum up: a very successful, worthwhile experience for students and staff, one which was generously resourced and efficiently managed by Mr Grainger and partner. Extremely good value for money..

Jebb was excellent - but at times could have done with another pair of hands for safety reasons. Fantastic range of equipment and skills and pupils allowed to develop at their own pace with chosen skills. This created a huge sense of achievement for these young people..

The overwhelming response from everyone involved in the day was that it was 'fantastic'. Children, staff, governors, parents, the Bishop & M.P. all had a great time. The leaders are sensitive to children's particular needs - excellent. Lots of laughing, learning of new skills and sheer enjoyment. Thanks again..

As a Headteacher of a special school for secondary aged boys with significant and persisting emotional and behavioural difficulties, I was absolutely delighted with the impact made by Shooting Stars Circus Skills. They grabbed the boys' attention from the outset, kept them motivated and positively involved throughout the day. The variety of activities was exceptional with all boys active for the whole day. Without doubt, this was the most successful activity session provided in school by external personnel. An excellent day!\nMr Quin "A truly wicked day with all the boys gaining confidence and greater self esteem. All the boys were kept motivated and on task through great leadership. Thanks for a great day.\n.

It was with nervous caution that we all welcomed your team late in the summer term to entertain and train our school of secondary aged boys, all of whom have statements for emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. Our primary concern, knowing their limited concentration spans and short fuses, was how you would engage them for a whole day? We were suitably impressed.\nIt was a most productive and rewarding day for the students and the staff. So much so, that a unicycle has been purchased and has been written into an individual education plans for one of our more difficult students. We all look forward to working with you and your team next year. Many thanks.\n.

Staff impressed by safety training they received, and their involvement in the sessions. Personality and manner of Steve Grainger was great. Wonderful to have the use of the digital camera. One of the best 'whole school' days we have ever had. Lots of positive feedback from parents whose children usually go home and tell them nothing! .

Very entertaining and stimulating for young people. Very interested and amused. Great for their self-esteem and interpersonal skills. Thank you very much for arranging to visit our Museum and teach circus skills. You were very professional and had a very good raport with the students. The management of students was very skills - you provided a supportive and well disciplined environment which provided real opportunities for students to succeed in new ways. Their self-esteem was clearly enhanced by the experience. I also thought you were very flexible and accommodating. It was particularly good for students who usually under perform at school, and I feel that we will map the benefits in the future. The head is keen to involve the staff in a future circus skills activity..

Surpassed our expectations! Children gained so much from the experience - it was wonderful to watch the dogged determination of children as they practised and practised skills they had been taught until they accomplished them. We, as teachers, were surprised by the achievements of the children - you could see some children's self-confidence growing as they delighted in the skills they had mastered. We were all reduced to tears by one little boy, who has profound multiple physical and mental disabilities, he managed to walk the tightrope - raise his leg and wave - to the consternation of us all. Thank you for an amazing two days, a wonderful way to end the term, on an absolute high!\n(2002) "Thank you again for two wonderful days of workshops. Fantastic - yet again we've seen children's self-esteem being given a great boost. All children learnt a new skill and were eager to demonstrate it to any willing audience. A wonderful way to end the school year!\n(2004) "My last visit from Steve - as I retire. But I have booked for the new head as I am sure he/she will appreciate the value of circus skills. Circus Skills provide so much support for children - in terms of self-esteem, confidence, developing physical skills. Steve is wonderful at encouraging children to' have a go' and then taking them on in gradual steps to more advanced work. The children's sense of achievement is wonderful to see when they gain mastery of a new skill. Circus Skills is something in which all children can be involved - there are no barriers - just success. Thanks, Steve, for the many years of pleasure you have given the children at Benhall and for your unfailing commitment to children.\n.
